Graduate Programme 2027- Reserve Bank of New Zealand | Te Pūtea Matua (Financial Stability Group)
Te Pūtea Matua ‘s Graduate Programme is where you’ll join a whānau | family of committed people who make key judgements affecting the ōhanga | economy to improve the lives of all those who call Aotearoa home. Everything we do enables people, communities and businesses to thrive, today and tomorrow.
From day one, you and your mahi | work will matter. You won’t get lost here because we are small enough to be whānau, yet you’ll be part of one of the world’s most trusted and respected Central Banks.
As a Graduate in our Financial Stability Group, you’ll play an active role across a variety of teams dedicated to safeguarding Aotearoa’s financial system. In doing so you will be helping to improve the everyday lives of New Zealanders. You’ll get hands-on experience identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks and opportunities, shaping and promoting policies that support stability, licensing and supervising financial entities, and contributing to supervisory and enforcement responses when issues arise.
Some work will require fast-paced responses to emerging issues while other projects will span longer timeframes and involve large-scale analysis using quantitative and/or qualitative methods. As part of this role, you’ll work closely with experts across RBNZ, other government agencies, and private sector entities to solve complex problems and respond to real-world challenges.
The Financial Stability Group plays a key role in supporting RBNZ’s broader priorities, including financial inclusion, climate change, and embedding Te Ao Māori perspectives across our work. These big-picture challenges are uniquely shaped by New Zealand’s context and require innovative, forward-thinking approaches in a rapidly changing environment.
We’re looking for four graduates who are curious and keen to develop broad central banking and regulatory experience, who are excellent communicators, analytically wired and ready to apply their knowledge and skills into real life scenarios.
We have openings across our offices in Wellington and Auckland. From your first day, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the teams within our Financial Stability Group to get the best start and the broadest experience, because you matter. At Te Pūtea Matua you become the heart of our Programme as we work to create and support a career pathway especially for you. Think of it as the ultimate springboard to a hugely satisfying and important future, enabling the economic wellbeing and prosperity for all New Zealanders as a kaitiaki | guardians of New Zealand’s financial ecosystem.
We cheer differences and new perspectives. Diversity seeds our best mahi | work and helps us to innovate and grow. We welcome and value knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti and Tikanga Māori and building diversity and inclusion into everything we do.
